I want you to know that you can have your cake and eat it too. 🍰 I mean it, and I need you to know that I'm coming from an old mindset that didn't believe in eating cake - or that, when I did, I needed to count every calorie in every crumb and work it off at the gym. I know what it is like to look at the ice cream in the freezer and not be sure if you will have the self-discipline to say "no" to a small bowl or if you will end up eating the entire half-gallon on your own in secret. I have definitely hidden my fair share of shameful eating "evidence" deep in the trash bin underneath everything else and spent countless nights beating myself up and promising to "be better" the next day. 🍰 I now believe in eating cake - like Ellie is in this throwback photo - with my heart ALL into it and WITHOUT guilt, and I want you to taste freedom around food too! 🙋🏼 In fact, I battled emotional and binge eating for over ten years and it made me miserable. I thank God that I found freedom and healing (which you can read my full story about how in either one of my two books), and I now have a positive and balanced relationship with eating - one I never imagined would be possible for me. Here's the thing - if I can find freedom from the yo-yo cycle of unpredictable emotional eating or disordered eating behaviors, I know that you can too, seriously, because I was a hot mess and seemingly hopeless. That's the thing, there's always hope - there's always healing available - you just have to be ready and open for it. That's why I gathered up a submission of your most pressing questions about food, body image and eating and compiled them into a podcast Q&A session that just posted this morning. 🎧 You can catch it in iTunes or on my website at www.trishblackwell.com/249. 🎧 Remember, each day is a day to grow in your relationship with yourself, with food and with your body; and every small step of positive growth you make in this area is a giant leap towards balance, happiness and better health. Stand tall today. Smile in the mirror. Be the first person to say hello. Forgive yourself for whatever you are mad at yourself for. Honor your body with food it wants.
